Closing Newsletter & Get Lucky Vouchers

In case you didn't receive it in your email, here is the closing Newsletter from Greedygirl:

    GONEGAMBLING GETLUCKY VOUCHER

    Dear GG Member,

As I pack up my GoneGambling desk, I can't help but revisit everything about this wonderful gem of a website. I know this will be a fairly long read, but what the heck?!? It's my last two days here and this is the only chance I'll have to say what I want to say...

21 years ago, John Abbott (the genius responsible for the site's creation), had an idea for a site where online gamblers could come and play some free games, win some casino prizes and do this in a very social setting. In those early days, the site had plenty of rough edges and only a few games... and not a whole lot of competition. John's timing, creativity and ingenuity was the perfect mix to build a website that would be 'THE site' for years to come.

I came on board in April 2000, just as GoneGambling was beginning to get some real traction. Those early days were so exciting, as really, the internet was still so new-and everyone was just sort of 'winging it.' We were no exception.

Working with John was a bit like working with a mad scientist. He'd come up with some truly crazy ideas and if I told him I didn't believe something made sense or would work, he would find a way to prove me wrong. Every time. At the same time, he never discouraged any of my ideas...

I remember chatting with him one day about how our 'Onions' (the iconic characters at GoneGambling) had really caught on. Jokingly, I suggested to John that we should have an Onion mascot for the site-like the characters walking around Disneyland. Sure enough, within a few days, the ball was rolling for our mascot to be built.

There have been SO many amazing memories through the years-too many to count. The time one of our members won a jackpot of more than a half million dollars... the GoneGambling members trip to Vegas (our Onion mascot was decked out in Elvis garb for this!)... all of the Holiday Chats with Drunk Santa... the insanely hysterical newsletters written by John about his wife, 'the Ball and Chain,' and his children, 'Rodent' and 'Precious'...

We've seen children of long-time members become old enough to become members, themselves. There have been members who fell off the map, only to appear once again-once they were released from prison! Sadly, we've lost some very cherished members, as well.

So as the clock ticks down, it's important to me that I take the time to deliver some gratitude:

Deedeemoe - For the past 7 years, you've been an exceptional assistant. You've kept me on my toes and kept the members in line. You're the only person I'd ever want to do 'Drunk Chat' with! I appreciate you, more than you'll know.

Jeff (our whiz-kid programmer) - You've bailed me out of more messes than I care to think about. You always amused me when you would talk about technical stuff-you HAD to have known I didn't understand one word of what you were telling me! I don't know what I would have done without you.

Chris (my favorite graphics guy) - When you came up with that first little Onion, GoneGambling was forever changed. I've never worked with any graphics person who could understand so well what I could not put into words. You've always exceeded expectations. I hope at some point, we can work together again.

Slotland (and WinADay, CrypoSlots) - Without question, Slotland and GoneGambling grew up together. Slotland has been an undying supporter of GoneGambling going back to 1999, until this very day. Loyalty such as this is so rare in life, let alone in this industry. Thank you for providing so much joy to our members and support for our site.

Bryan Bailey (Casinomeister) - You owned GoneGambling for five years, passed the torch on to me... and now I'm passing it back to you. You've been an amazing rock in my life since the day we met - thank you for always being here for me. I'm so looking forward to your new version of GoneGambling! I know you're going to make everyone proud!

...and the last two are the toughest...

John Abbott - What can I say, really? I get choked up when I think of how many ways you've influenced my life. It is because of you that I've enjoyed 20 years in an industry I could never have imagined being a part of. You've been a source of laughter, challenge, frustration and great joy. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for everything.

Our members - The life blood of GoneGambling. Without our members, GG would have been not much of anything. So many shared their lives with all of us - we experienced the highs and lows with so many laughs through the years. Each and every member helped to make GoneGambling the 'living room' for online gamblers. I sincerely thank each and every one of you.

And with that, I'm going to finish packing up the place, before the lights get cut off. I'm not certain when the new and improved GoneGambling will launch, but please keep checking the site for information.

I wish you all the very best, and as always, 'win BIG'!

    Greedygirl

    Thank you Greedy.

And I would like to say that, for my part, I've enjoyed this nutty site ever since discovering it back in 2001. There has been many a cherished moment spent right here in the GoneGambling.com world.

For years my GG homepage was the old forum page, where I'd check on the doings of my GG buddies from all around the world, catch the latest drama and put in my two cents when I had something to say.

Every Sunday the normal world stopped while Chat was in session. I've had more entertainment, laughs, cries, games, prizes and general crazy-fun chatting it up w/ everyone. Greedy and John's antics were better than any tv sitcom.

And the Newsletters! Omg getting a newsletter was like xmas morning. Greedygirl's, John's, and even The Duck's newsletters were not to be missed!

When one day out of the blue, Greedygirl Called me up and asked me if I wanted to work for GG I practically fell out of my chair... Duh, Yes! I just about would have done it for free. Getting paid for something you enjoy is rare and I was grateful for the opportunity.

I've certainly enjoyed working for GG these past few years, You couldn't ask for a better boss than Greedygirl. And when John came back to GG I could hardly believe that I now worked with the complete 'dynamic-duo' that made this site THE place to be. I will never forget how lucky I felt working with Greedy & John and having them as my friends.

I'll miss all my good GG friends & each and every GG member.

    Best wishes to you all
